South Africa hosts extremely challenging races amongst remarkable scenery through beautiful mountain ranges, right into the core of the magnificent Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area. This experience use to be called ‘longest single stage team MTB event’ in the world for six years. This bike event is consisted of 2, 3 or 4 cyclist per team which is very different to a normal MTB race.
Squads have to check in & out at checkpoints strategically placed on route, so their whereabouts can be traced. The route is 230 km long from Willowmore to Jeffrey’s Bay & must be completed in 24 hours to qualify for a medal.

Yolande de Villers & Neill Ungerer won the Trans Baviaans Race as a Mixed Team in the Mixed Category. To make things better they have won this race 5 years in a row!
They finished the rivalry in 8 hours 58 mintuess, nearly 1 hour 27 mintuess ahead of their closest competitor. The top men’s team can in at 8 hours 46min and 16 seconds, which means our team came in just 10 mins after the fastest time.
The winning team and another duo also rode on the SESTAs and finished 2nd in the Women’s Category. Janine Muller & Mari Du Toit finished the race in 12hours and 23 minutes and 23 seconds which is very impressive too
