I love riding hardtails and I love my sphere for steep/technical trails. Climbs like an XC bike, descends like an enduro with slack head angle and wide tyres.

Feedback of my time with my Silverback Sphere 1, Size Medium, bought October 2018 (suspect it was a 2016 model on sale).

What I liked about the bike:
Very good value for money package
    Paint finish is superb
    Frame welding is very neat
    Overall bike weight is good
Frame geometry is fine, fun to ride and easy to handle
Clearance between the tires and the frame is very good, allowing sufficient clearance for mud caking on tires
Fork handles well and really smooth
I particularly liked the 50mm Sun Ringle Mulefut Rims, allowing the fitment of different tire width options
The 29+ format is great in sandy and muddy conditions and provides confidence in gnarly conditions
The SRAM shifting is super slick and the ability to move up two cogs with one click in an emergency has proven priceless
The 1 x 11 drive is good and adequate most of the time. (At times I would have liked one additional low-gear or even a 2 x 11 setup)
    Brakes are great
Versatile bike, suitable for a variety of off-road terrains. I wouldn’t consider it a racer, but racing is not my scene, thus would have liked the ability to add racks etc for short exploratory excursions.

What I don’t like about the bike:
The paint protection film on the frame is a good idea, but has poor adhesion as water gets underneath the transparent film and causes it to blister along the edges
There are no braze-ons or threaded holes to mount a bike rack
There are no mounting points for a second water bottle or tool storage container
The saddle is rock-hard and I find it very uncomfortable

What I changed on the bike:
    Fitted a Brooks B17 saddle
Fitted a comfortable FSA Metropolis handle bar
    Fitted Ergon comfort grips

    Experience:
Distance traveled with my “new” Silverback Spere: 972km
Distance traveled with my Silverback Double Scooop Deluxe: 3,585km
Distance traveled with my Titan 27.5 Carbon MTB: 4,127km
