Taking a different spin on sport e-bike
For 2020 our designers took the S-Electro Sport in a completely different direction. They changed the geometry, integrated the battery and used a lighter motor. This meant a lighter e-bike with an efficient drive system, that is more trail focused that before. And then with an affordable price tag.
The S-Electro Sport is made for that rider who enjoys light trail rides, mountain bike adventures and might possibly use their sport e-bike for commuting.
The S-Electro Sport features a 6061 hydro-formed aluminium frame, that is structurally stiff, strong and light. The new frame features a fully integrated battery, located in the downtube. This does not only look great but it’s functional, as it allows more space in the front triangle. This means you have more space for an extra water bottle, storage box or tool kit.
We have updated the geometry of the S-Electro Sport to feature our POP geometry (Position of Power). This means the bike has a steeper Seat tube and the slacker head angle than the previous model. Shifting you, the rider slightly more forward over the bike and more upright. Giving you a more efficient pedal stroke and improving your climbing game.
Drive Train Choice/Battery
The Shimano E7000 drive unit is a compact and lightweight, system that comes in at 2.8kg. This motor has a torque output of 60N.m. and rated 250W power. The 504Wh battery has a lifetime of 1000 cycles and a run time of 2 hours when used in it’s highest power setting for the entire ride. The charge time of the battery is 3.5 hours with the 4a Darfon Smart charger.
Wheel size and tyre compatibility
The S-Electro Sport is available in two different wheel sizes, to cater for rider preference and size. The S-Electro 27 Sport is available in small and medium and comes with a 27.5” wheel. Whereas the 29er wheel, S-Electro 29 Sport is available in medium, large and extra-large.
Both models come with Maxxis Crossmark ll tyres with a width of 2.25” but can clear a higher volume tyre of 2.35” front and rear.
When we design a bike, we use a formula to ensure we deliver a ride that has the best qualities for the given platform at the given price. For this e-bike we have chosen the SR Suntour XCR 34-AIR, BOOST fork with a 100mm of travel. This fork has both lock-out and adjustable rebound which will give you a comfortable ride feel. It also provides great handling in corners whilst absorbing small bumps.
Low Q – Factor sport e-bike
The Shimano STEPs E7000 system has a low Q – Factor of 177mm. This refers to the distance between the outside of the two cranks plays a big role in giving the bike a natural riding feeling whether the power assist is on or off.
Dropper post compatibility
With the S-Electro Sport considered a versatile sport e-bike our designers had to make provision for an internally routed dropper post. The cable is routed through the Down Tube and exits near the motor mount. It enters near the bottom of the seat tube again, linking to your seat post.
