By use of internal mandrels during construction, the maximum carbon fibre strand length can be used along tubes and around junctions. This ensures minimum material waste and enforces our optimal weight to stiffness ratio properties. Various directional layers of carbon fibre used in this manner produce strong, stiff, light and reliable frames.
TRAIL TUNED CARBON TUBES
The large diameter carbon tubes are not only shaped specifically for optimised weight to stiffness ratio, but the wide angular shapes provide a lot of lateral stiffness, while allowing the big vertical hits to be absorbed better with thinner side profiles. Overall, the carbon front triangle allows the rider to focus on the trail and find the flow, no matter what the trail has in store for you.
INTEGRATED LOW SHOCK MOUNT
The carbon frame has a neat integrated lower shock mount near the bottom bracket, focusing material flow from the natural lines of the frame and bridges seat tube to down tube, anchoring the lower shock. This allows for ideal strengthening in this key area and keeps the lines of the frame smooth and modern, and minimising excess material, thereby keeping the frame light.
This option allows one to use a direct mount front derailleur, or to remove it for weight reduction when using a single chainring up front and making the frame look more aesthetically pleasing at the same time.
The very large cartridge bearings for the main pivot, concentric to the bottom bracket, create a very laterally stiff lower linkage that connects to the rear triangle, and together with large seat tube and seat stay pivot cartridge bearings, the system is durable, supple, stiff and easy to maintain.
IDS REVO TECHNOLOGY
Our unique floating pivot rear suspension utilizes a linkage that is concentric with the BB together with a forged upper linkage. This makes for a laterally stiff rear triangle, with high grade bearings at the linkages which ensure trail-hugging suppleness for superb riding control and comfort.
This 3D forged bridge is a key part of the rear triangle, giving strength and stiffness to the rear triangle structure for great trail riding performance.
The Carbon front triangle with the combination of an aluminium rear triangle, in three options, is the core of the 1/3 Concept. The three set ups are: Slim model with 29” standards wheels and tyres, Slimfat that uses 27.5” rims and 3.0” tyres, and Fat, which uses 26” rims and tyres up to 4.8”.
This seat stay spacer widens the rear triangle for use with Slimfat and Fat set ups. And together with the Race Face cranks axle width options, forms part of the 1/3 Concept technology.
